OVERVIEW

Notes In Heels Tickets - Show At The Duchess Theatre London Notes from New York

present

Notes in Heels

Notes from New York returns to its roots with a typically tantalising twist to present Notes in Heels, a show profiling the work of Georgia Stitt, Jenny Giering and Zina Goldrich, three flourishing female stalwarts of New York’s eternally ebullient musical theatre scene, starring series regulars Julie Atherton and Paul Spicer, alongside newcomers Selina Chilton, Stuart Matthew Price and Amy Pemberton.

Continuing the Notes from New York philosophy of presenting hitherto unheard work in front of an appreciative West End audience, Notes in Heels will bring the extensive repertoire of these fearsomely talented female composers together for the first time in an evening featuring a multitude of UK and European premieres. Adored by musical theatre enthusiasts in the States, each has a truly individual talent and distinctive identity to rival any of their more renowned male counterparts.

Georgia Stitt, who has conducted numerous musicals on Broadway and across America, is wife to the previously featured Notes from New York composer Jason Robert Brown. She has written several musicals including The Water and Big Red Sun and she is also well known as an arranger, pianist and vocal coach. Her songs have been recorded by several Broadway stars such as Lauren Kennedy and Susan Egan and she recently released an album of her work entitled This Ordinary Thursday.

Jenny Giering’s musical The Mistress Cycle recently played to rave reviews at the Apple Tree Theatre in Chicago following a previous staging at the New York Musical Theatre Festival. Her latest show Crossing Brooklyn received its world première in New York last year. She is currently writing Saint-Ex, a musical about the life of Antoine de Saint Exupery, author of The Little Prince. She also has a solo album called Look for Me and her songs have been recorded by artists including Audra McDonald.

Zina Goldrich, whose popular musical Junie B Jones will open Off Broadway later this year, is synonymous with her lyricist co-writer Marcy Heisler. Perhaps best described as singer-songwriters turned musical theatre composers, this inimitable pairing have won numerous awards for their songwriting talents and have also performed extensively at venues including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Centre in New York. Their other shows include Dear Edwina, Adventures in Love and Allison Under.
